I personally didn't like Pittsburg, California. It reminded me to much of the south side of Chicago. Although my daughter and ex-wife loved Pittsburg. It was my daughter's first year of college and she flourished as a new college student. She attended Los Medanos College which was literaly located directly across the street from our condo. She enrolled in a lot extra student activities and surrounded herself with dedicated career focused students. Her academic concentration centered around digital advancements in forensic science, which was surprising to me since she never liked science or math in high school. So I was proud that she challenged herself to study topics outside of her comfort zone and tackle her fears head-on. My ex-wife found a job as a director at a San Francisco Public Library which was about an hour and half drive from Pittsburg, but she enjoyed the drive since she could listen to her books on tape. She got a lot of reading done during the long drives to and from San Francisco. Personally, I wasn't impressed with Pittsburg. Usually on the weekends, I would drive to Oakland or Martinez, California to meet friends at my favorite restuarants or hang out at the Pier or the farmers market. There were a couple of Mexican restuarants in pittsburgh that I frequented. They were small locally owned restuarants with authentic Mexican food. So, if your ever in Pittsburgh check out the Pier and take a boat ride, or check out the local restuarants for some good Chinese or Mexican cuisine.
